This church of preromanesque origin is among the earliest and most important ecclesiastical buildings in the Vinschgau Valley. Of particular interest is the “oriental” style of the architecture. A square nave has three adjoining apses arranged in the form of a cloverleaf. The church has regular layers of stone and a bell-shaped wall on the choir gable, larger and smaller circular windows and a flat wooden ceiling in the nave, as well as a stone-framed pointed arch door with roll moulding. The inscription shows the year of consecration as 1080.
