The Church of St. Sisinius near Laas

Site Nr. 006

The building is surrounded by an old wall with regular layers of stone, stone coping and a Gothic pointed-arch door. The church is not documented before 1290 but is one of the earliest churches in the Vinschgau Valley. The tower was built after 1150 and adjoins the nave in the east. It contains the choir with barrel vaulting whereas the nave has a flat ceiling. The triumphal arch recedes slightly and is marked with larger granite ashlar blocks. Semi-circular oylets have been preserved in the nave and in the east wall.
