Chesa Madalena Zuoz

At first glance, the façade of the Chesa Madalena looks like a rather strange Engadine house, squeezed between two other buildings. On entering, the visitor experiences a twofold surprise. On the one hand, he/she sees the exterior walls of a 700-year-old tower house, with pietra rasa plastering, which was usual in the Middle Ages, and in which the joints have been carefully traced. On the other hand, there are objects of contemporary art, works by Carl Andre, Balthasar Burkhard, Richard Long and Not Vital, which are displayed by the Tschudi Gallery in its Engadine annexe.
