The Middle Ages still peeks out from every corner. The fortified city walls with their round corner towers speak of times of war, of princely politics and of a time when this was a trading centre for salt between southern Germany and Lombardy. The people of Glurns also had their own unit of measurement, markets and the seat of the princely court. What the Pied Piper is to Hamelin, the famous mouse trial is to Glurns. The exhibition ‘Stations of a Small Town’ in the museum of the Schluderns Gate Tower shows the history of the town through trade and defence, markets and professions. The museum also grants access to part of the medieval battlement walkway that has been preserved.
