With its portal and
narrow lancet windows in the nave, St. George is a classic Gothic
structure. In the valley, the well-preserved 13th
Century Romanesque bell tower can be seen from afar. Outside on its
west wing, is a fresco of St. Christopher, while the high Baroque
altar in the church originally came from the Church of St. George in
Altenburg near Caldaro/Kaltern. Adorned with various pagan symbols,
the Gothic portal includes a sun disk with a five-pointed star, a
vertical new moon and a palm-like penta-spout.
