Guided tour of Glurns: ‘Towers, walls, mill’

The Middle Ages still peeks out from every corner. The fortified city walls with their round corner towers bear witness to times of war, princely politics and an era when this was a trading centre for salt between southern Germany and Lombardy. The people of Glurns also had their own unit of measurement, markets and the seat of the princely court. What the Pied Piper is to Hamelin, the famous mouse trial is to Glurns. The Mühlbach, a branch of the Adige River, served those tradesmen who needed water to manufacture or process their products. Discover the town mill, where you can still see part of the old mill wheel, as well as the completely preserved grinding mechanism.
